Childcare in Ireland: Live on a farm and support an Irish family as an au pair!
Would you like to spend some time in an English-speaking country with a family, taking care of the children and helping with the household? We can arrange this in Ireland even for short-time stays with a minimum duration of 4 weeks.
As an EU citizen, you don't even have to worry about any visa issues and you can just travel to Ireland. This means that such a stay can be arranged at short notice (we only need 3 weeks lead time!). If you are from outside the EU, you need to be of a nationality that can enter the Schengen countries without an invitation letter.
In return for your work, you will receive free board and lodging by your Irish Au Pair family.
The families are usually farmers, so you can also expect animals such as sheep, cattle and sometimes horses on your farm. The focus of your work, however, is on childcare and helping with the household. Since the farmers are always very busy with their farm work, you are really needed.
How can you get involved?
Your main responsibilities as an Au Pair in Ireland are taking care of the children. Depending on the age of the children, you will help them to get up, get dressed, you will prepare meals, take the children to school or kindergarten, help with their homework, play inside and outside, do handicrafts and read books with them, plan activities, and take care of bathing them and bringing them to bed.
Au Pairs in Ireland also help with household chores, for example with cooking and preparing food, doing the dishes and tidying up the kitchen, doing the laundry, shopping, and tidying up the children's toys. As an Au Pair, you are a full family member for the duration of your stay and thus you'll be involved in almost everything that needs to be done at the household.

As an Au Pair in Ireland you will not only gain experience abroad and improve your English language skills, but you will also learn how to manage a household, you will become more independent and learn to take on responsibility. These are skills that look good on your résumé and are valuable for your personal and professional development.
What are your working times?
You will work 5 days a week for about 40-45 hours and have 2 days off a week. Since there is always a lot to do on farms, your days off do not necessarily fall on the weekends. If you work on the weekends, you will have days off during the week instead.
The exact working hours depend on the family activities and can vary! You should be flexible and have a hands-on mentality. Also you should not mind getting up early.
What previous knowledge do you need?
No knowledge or previous work experience is required.
You should futhermore enjoy living on a farm in a rural area, where there may not be all the conveniences and entertainment options of a big city.
