World Adventure - 24 Days at Galápagos (3 Islands)

Voluntourism 24 at the Galápagos Islands
 
 
This program will allow you to combine volunteering on two islands - San Cristobal and Santa Cruz, with a nice holiday exploring the unique nature at Isabela Island. Basic knowledge of Spanish is required for this program. The first two weeks you spend in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and work there in the nursery or school. Then you work on an organic farm in the highlands of Santa Cruz Island. The last three days, you visit the island of Isabela. This program starts and ends in Quito, Ecuador.
 

World Adventure Itinerary

 
Day 1 (Saturday)
Arrival and Accommodation at Student House in Quito/Ecuador (airport transfers from/to the airport not included)
 
Day 2
Flight from Quito to San Cristobal Island (Galapagos). Flight ticket is included in the price. Accommodation in Galapagos at volunteer house or host family (no meals included) in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno.

You can decide, whether you want to work in the nursery or school of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. In the case of the Kindergarten, you take care of and play with the approximately 150 children aged 3-5 years. In the case of the school, you can select whether you want to assist the two PE teachers in football, basketball, table tennis or chess. Alternatively, you can support by teaching the children, working out teaching materials and performing activities with the teachers for English lessons. Another possibility is to teach music or arts and crafts .
 
Accommodation is in Galapagos at the Volunteer House or with a Host Family (no meals).

Weekend of leisure at San Cristobal.

Days 10-14
Volunteering at kindergarten or school in Puerto Baquerizo Moreno. Accommodation in volunteer house or host family (no meals).

Travel by public ferry to the island of Santa Cruz. Start of volunteering on the La Envidia organic farm in the highlands of Santa Cruz . There the volunteers' role is to prevent the spread of invasive plants such as Tupi Pink and blackberries, plant short-cycle crops in small scale, they plant organic coffee (the crops of this produce are segmented, this means that while an area is ready for harvesting twice a year, the other area is in process of growing; nevertheless, it needs to be maintained and cleaned along the year), and breed and take care of farm animals (cows, chicken, ducks, pigs).
 
Day 16
Free day on Santa Cruz Island
 
Days 17-21
Volunteer work at the Organic Farm in the Highlands of Santa Cruz Island (no meals included)

Start of 3 days/2 nights trip to Isabela Island. You will be picked up at the end of the morning at the farm and will be taken to Puerto Ayora from where you will take the ferry to Isabela Island. Here you will check in into a Tourist Class Hotel and will visit the Flamingo Lagoon. Dinner is included.
 
VulkanDay 23
After breakfast you will start with a tour to the Volcano Sierra Negra and Volcano Chico. After a nice hike you can enjoy a picnic lunch with a beautiful view. In the afternoon there will be an excursion to Tintoreras Islet, where you can observe sleeper sharks and marine iguanas. Afterwards there will be a snorkeling opportunity.

Day 24
Early in the morning you will be transported back to Santa Cruz. From there you can take a taxi to Baltra (+/-$20.00) to catch your flight back to the mainland of Ecuador.

When you arrive in GYE (Guayaquil) instead of Quito, we can book you a night and a connecting flight for 75 USD.
