Not sure what you're really interested in and want to try out different professional fields? You can do so with our "Job Orientation Internship" program! In Castleisland, a small town in the green County of Kerry, one of the most visited regions of Ireland, you can, following a weekly schedule, intern at various places simultaneously and thus get to know different activities. You can also do the same as a community volunteer of any age.
You can choose from the following placements and combine!
Charity shops have a long tradition in Great Britain and Ireland. They are used goods stores operated by non-profit organizations. They are often found in prime locations in the city centers and are very busy. The goods are donated, sold in the shop and the proceeds go to the charitable work of the organization. Typical second-hand goods are books, clothing, furniture and housewares.
As an intern in a charity shop, you sell goods in the store and display them nicely on the shelves. At the sorting office, you sort goods into different categories and repair and clean them, for instance furniture and clothing (using a steam cleaner).
