In all countries in which we operate, we organise study tours in all fields such as medicine, social, economic, etc. according to the interest of the group. Study tours which include visits to organizations, companies and research institutes and courses and discussions with local experts, can be combined with recreational activities, excursions, intercultural training, short-term volunteering, etc. We plan all study visits individually, while focusing on the budget of the group, for example in terms of accommodation options. The course content can be adapted to the knowledge level of the participants.
 
This offer is aimed at both university and school groups, as well as organizations and companies who want to make themselves and their employees familiar with the host country.
 

The following is an example of a 7-day study tour in Shanghai of "Manufacturing in China".

Day 1 (Sunday)

Arrive in Shanghai, dinner together at the accommodation.
 
Day 2 (Monday)
 
After breakfast, 10.00 a.m. - 2.00 p.m.: City tour of Shanghai: Yuyuan Garden, Town God Temple, People’s Square, Nanjing Road, The Bund, etc.
 
3.00 p.m. - 7.00 p.m.: Introduction to the program and official welcome by the guest lecturers at the Fudan University, Shanghai.
 
Day 3 (Tuesday)
 
After breakfast, at 9.30 a.m.: Lectures and discussion with professor of Fudan University, Shanghai. Themes: "Bonding Exercise - Issues and Challenges for Leadership in China" and "Emerging Corporate Landscape in China: Issues and Challenges".
 
After the lunch break, case study simulation (2.00 p.m - 8.00 p.m.): "Towards Strategic Marketing in China".
 
8.00 p.m. - 9.30 p.m.: lecture on: "Decision Making Styles and Shadow Management in China"
 
Day 4 (Wednesday)
 
At 9.00 a.m., bus to Suzhou; around 11.30 a.m., arrival in the Suzhou Industrial Park, one of the largest special economic zones in China.
 
11.30 a.m. - 1.00 p.m.: Meet and talk with an official representative of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) and a visit to Suzhou Water Village, a 2600 year old picturesque village on the Yangtze River.
 
After lunch at a local Chinese restaurant, inspection of production in the industrial park. Back to Shanghai at around 4.00 p.m.
 
Day 5 (Thursday)
 
8.30 a.m. - 1.00 p.m.: Lecture and discussion of case studies with guest lecturers of the Fudan University, Shanghai: "Will China and Europe develop competitive collaboration?"
 
2.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m.: Intercultural training by Hofstede-accredited intercultural trainer: "Working with the Chinese, Hofstede's 6D-Model applied to Chinese Work Culture"
 
7.00 p.m.: Visit to a Chinese acrobatic show in Shanghai
 
9.30 p.m. - 10.30 p.m.: Dinner at Chinese Restaurant
 
Day 6 (Friday)
 
9.00 a.m. - 12.00 p.m.: Farm visit and meetings with senior managers of "Sealed Air" China.
 
After lunch, from 2.30 p.m. - 5.00 p.m.: Farm visit and meetings with senior managers in another manufacturing facility in Shanghai. Dinner at the accommodation.
 
Day 7 (Saturday)
 
8.30 a.m. - 11.00 a.m.: Visiting a marketing agency in Shanghai. Topic of lecture "Creating Sustainable Global Brands".
 
11.30 a.m.- 7.00 p.m.: Group work with the professor of Fudan University Shanghai: Case Study
 
8.00 p.m. Farewell Dinner
 
Day 8 (Sunday)
 
8.00 a.m. - 12.45 p.m.: Group presentations of group work from the previous day
 
12.45 p.m. - 1.45 p.m.: Evaluation of the program and delivery of certificates of participation.

Changemaker's Journey
 
 
"Changemaker's Journey – Social Business in India" is a study tour of 7 days duration, which gives an insight into the work of inspiring individuals and organizations who work for social improvements in urban and rural India, through various visits, discussions and reflections. The objective is to give the participants a glimpse of the situation in India during the study trip, the difficulties faced by social businesses in urban and rural areas of India, and the opportunities and possibilities.
 
Social Business is an economic concept that is often attributed to the Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, encouraging ​​active companies to solve social and environmental problems of society. In contrast to social projects with the same content, objective social businesses are like traditional businesses. However, the largest part of the profit remains within the company. The dividend is limited and used for the expansion of the services through company growth.
 
The program is designed for groups of at least 8 participants, such as those from universities, companies or other organizations that deal with the topic of social business.
 
The learning objectives of the program are:
 
  • Interact with Social Entrepreneurs in urban and rural India
  • Understand new business models of sustainable development in urban and rural India
  • Interact with villagers in rural India and insight into their daily lives
  • Interact with residents of poor urban areas and insight into their daily lives
  • Develop an understanding of the complexities and challenges of life in rural areas of India and in poor urban areas and how these are considered in the planning of social business activities
 

Program Flow:

 
Before arrival, participants will receive an information packet with reference materials , and a guide to behavior with residents in villages and poor urban areas. A conference is held with the program managers from India over Skype who explain the program in detail, as well as issues, expectations and address the queries of the participants
 
During the program, it is expected that participants write brief reports on their daily observations, which are discussed at the end of each day with the program manager in the group.
 
Phase 1 (in Mumbai; 3.5 Days)
 
Day 1
In the morning, introduction to the program
In the afternoon, visit of UnLtd India, an organization of investors and exceptional individuals who have a vision in the field of social business, who bring together content, advise and guide.
 
Day 2
In the morning, visit of Mirakle Couriers Mumbai, a courier service that employees hearing impaired people. Afternoon: Visit the Oscar Foundation. The foundation helps youth from the slums learn life skills through soccer training for them.
 
Day 3:
In the morning, visit of Under the Mango Tree, a social business that does beekeeping and markets fair trade gourmet honey products. The agricultural productivity through increased pollination give farmers an additional source of income.
 
In the afternoon, visit the Conservation Centre of Sanjay Gandhi National Parks (Borivali), one of the few global national parks in the metropolitan area. The park is a visitor attraction which attracts over 2 million visitors a year and makes a valuable contribution to the environment with its dense forest and compensation for urban conurbation. In the park, we will also visit 2400 year old Buddhist caves.
 
Phase 2 (In a village near Mumbai; 3 Days)
 
The following 3 days, we dive into the village life. During this phase, the goal is to learn about sustainable development and to start a small development activity with children, women or the environment.
 
Participants should be aware about the reality of life in rural India in terms of livelihood, housing, sanitation and water supply, education, management of natural resources, agriculture and village administration, get in touch with young people, women and families from the village, and understand social change in rural India and sustainable business models.
 
Day 4
We travel to the village Henna in Purushwadi for a village orientation and introduction to the community. Thereafter, the program manager leads the participants through a simulation game that illustrates the complexity of agricultural production in India. The findings are discussed in the group.
 
Day 5
"Shadowing a villager" - We support a villager in his/her daily life. In the afternoon, we do fun activities with the young people in the village.
 
Day 6
In the morning, we visit an innovative social initiative in the village and then discuss with members of the initiative, possibilities of new social business models.
 
Day 7
Return to Mumbai. In the afternoon, we discuss the summary of the program and have dinner together.
 

Our partner for this program in India is a social business in itself. Through the program, as well as community tourism activities, more than 50% of households participating in the 3 villages has achieved a growth of 25-35% of their household income. The migration from the villages was reduced by 25%, and the culture, traditions and environmental awareness in the villages are promoted.

Remote group programs

 
We arrange tailor-made remote learning programs for schools, universities and other groups. Examples of programs that we have developed include:
 
  • Group virtual short-term internship for secondary school students. The school class was divided into 3 groups x 10 students. Each group was doing a 5-day remote internship with a different company, including an business research company from India, an IT company from India and an agricultural investment consulting company from Tanzania. Every day, a manager of the respective company was speaking for two hours via webcam in front of the class about relevant topics that had been prepared with the students' teacher and was giving group tasks that the students had to work on and discussed with the manager the following day.
  • Group virtual volunteer program for secondary school students. The students were communicating online once a week with Indian students of the same age which were supported by a non-profit organization, teaching them topics from their own school and exchanging ideas.
  • Group online program "Global Competence" for a Japanese university. Once a week for 60 minutes during a whole semester, there is a live online conference betwen the students and a weekly changing manager of a company or organization from the target countries in which we operate. The managers are talking about the activities of the organization, provided background information about the respective country, speak about their organizational structure, and answer questions asked by the students. The program is complemented by online sessions on intercultural learning as well as practical information on working abroad, studying abroad, internship abroad and the like.


Internships and Volunteering for Groups

 
For universities, schools, clubs, youth programs, businesses and other groups, we organize internships and volunteering for groups.
 
This can be related to a particular subject area on which students are being trained from different institutions, or for companies that encourage their employees to volunteer in various projects as part of CSR programs.
