Engineering Internships and Technical Traineeships in Malta

Internship

We arrange engineering internships for university/college students and graduates with various companies in Malta including electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, biotechnology and IT/network technology. We also arrange technical traineeships for students and graduates of professional schools in the beforementioned and other technical areas including elevator system technology, cooling technology, solar technology and sanitary technology.

What is your internship organization doing and what are your tasks?

Malta is a highly industrialized nation and the production location of many international companies for electronics, pharmaceutics, toys, packaging materials, paper and printed products and textiles, among other goods. There are also large software and internet companies. Malta Freeport is one of the largest ports in Europe and a logistical hub for container ships between Africa and Europe.

We can organize engineering internships for students and graduates (up to one year after graduation) from engineering courses such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, biotechnology and IT/network technology, as well as technical traineeships for students and recent graduates (up to one year after graduation) of technical professional schools in the same and other industries.

As an engineering intern in Malta, you will, for example, assist an engineer in the monitoring and troubleshooting of large factories as well as in adapting machines to changes in production. You can also focus on laboratory research or the design and construction of new machines and systems. As an engineering intern, it is generally expected that you have some previous experience in AutoCAD.

Technical trainees can also do a technical internship/traineeship in the same industries as mentioned before, where they accompany a professional technician and are involved in the installation and maintenance of production systems. Additionally, technical traineeships are also possible in the installation and maintenance of elevator systems, commercial cold rooms, solar systems, ships, port systems, sanitary facilities and IT networks.

What are your working hours?

You are usually full-time (40 hours/week) at your placement organisation from Monday to Friday.

Which previous knowledge is required?

An intermediate level of English language skills (B1) is required. Engineering interns should have some first experience in AutoCAD. For legal reasons, we can only offer placements in Malta to students, trainees and graduates (up to a maximum of 1 year after graduation) of related fields of study. Supervised student internships for credit are possible.
