Public Relations SOS Children's Villages
The task of this volunteering position
consists in the assistance of the manager for Public Relations of the
SOS Children’s villages in Tanzania.
There are generally two work areas: Firstly, the communication between
the orphans and their sponsors needs to be guaranteed and improved. The
sponsors who finance the upbringing and education of a child in most
cases live overseas. Therefore, the children's development must be documented in a
realistic way, such as through pictures and texts, and the direct
contact between child and sponsor must be facilitated. Secondly, the
organisation and its goals must be advertised and communicated to the local population
to achieve sponsorships of children and further donations.
Volunteers should have computer skills; particularly they should be
familiar with using the internet. They should further have skills in desktop publishing, print
layout and digital photography in order to produce the above
mentioned reports, flyers and brochures. Basic technology is
available, however it would be better if volunteers/interns could bring their own laptops with installed software for media production. The placement will take place in Dar-Es-Salaam and/or
Zanzibar.
