What do you enjoy the most about working at World Unite!?
I thoroughly enjoy showing visitors to our beautiful country the South African way of looking at life and everything that comes along with it.
Where do you find most enjoyable to spend your leisure time at?
My favorite local places are the beach and the bush.
What is your favorite local food, and where can it be found?
My favorite local food is vetkoek, which is a deep-fried bread ball that can be bought from just about any big grocery store, corner cafe and side of the road vendors
What should participants coming to South Africa make sure not to miss?
Visitors to our region have to visit our Addo Elephant Park to be able to see wildlife such as elephants, cape buffalo, lions, antelope, zebras, etc. in their natural habitat.
Do you have any hobbies or special interests, and where can you do your hobbies?
When I do get to have some down-time, I love reading in a sunny spot, which is just about anywhere in this gorgeous sunshiney country of course.
What is the most memorable episode that you have experienced with a World Unite! participant?
The past weekend we took a group of our volunteers up into the Amatole mountains to visit the most magical little town of Hogsback. I was walking through the forest with the 2 participants Jan K. and Jan Z., who proceeded to shake the banana in his hand at the "cute" but very big monkey not too far off because he wanted it to come closer. When the monkey started chasing him, Jan Z. had to run with his banana to the nearest buildings while Jan K. and I were left behind on the forest path to die of laughter.
