Description

Working Holiday in South Korea

South Korea is the new trending Working Holiday destination! Our 4-week orientation program starts once a month in Daegu, a welcoming student city located halfway between Seoul and Busan. Both cities can be reached quickly and affordably by train. Daegu, South Korea’s third-largest city, however, also has a lot to offer: as the country’s number one student city, it boasts a young, vibrant atmosphere and affordable living costs.

During the 4-week orientation in Daegu, you’ll share an apartment with other participants from around the world. We assist with all administrative tasks, introduce you to working in South Korea, and help you experience Korean culture through activities and excursions. You can also take Korean language classes during this time. After the orientation, you can stay in Daegu, move on independently, or let us arrange a guaranteed job for you in Seoul, Busan, or Daegu.

Upon arrival at Dongdaegu, you will be picked up again and accompanied by subway to your World Unite! shared apartment accommodation, where you will check in.

Minimum duration: 3 months

Basic Korean language skills are required for these jobs, equivalent to the level you would gain by participating in our 4-week Korean language course (5x per week) as a beginner.

If you already have sufficient Korean language skills before your trip to Korea, we can arrange online job interviews in advance. If you do not yet have sufficient Korean, you should participate in our language classes and we will arrange interviews within the last 2 weeks of the 4-week orientation program in Daegu. The interviews usually take place on-site. You can expect a total lead time of 2-4 weeks before you can start the job.

The jobs are paid around the Korean legal minimum wage (2025: KRW 10,030 per hour). The weekly working hours are limited to 25 hours on a Korean Working Holiday Visa (only for Canadians there is no limitation of weekly working hours).

You can specify preferences regarding the job and location, but we expect you to be flexible, as not all options are always available.

We arrange a maximum of 3 interviews, for which we will prepare you. If you are not hired after an interview, the process continues until the maximum number of 3 interviews is reached. If no job placement has been made after the three interviews, a refund for the "Pre-arranged, guaranteed job" extra will be issued, provided that you followed the advice/tips from our preparation during the interviews and the reason for non-employment is clearly on the employer's side.

When you book the hospitality job extra, we will arrange ONE guaranteed hospitality job for you (if you wish to arrange two different hospitality jobs, please book the number "2" of the "Pre-arranged, guaranteed job" extra.

Childcare Jobs

Most childcare jobs we arrange in Seoul, Busan, and Daegu are in international Kid's Cafés. Kid's Cafés combine an indoor playground with additional activities for children and a café where parents can relax. Parents can monitor their children on video screens.

Minimum duration: 3 months

The children are usually in the age range of 1.5-9 years. You will play with them in the indoor playground, read them books, play board games (small groups of 3-5 children each), cook with them, do science experiments, do arts and crafts with them - all in English! Although you primarily speak English, basic Korean language skills are required, equivalent to the level of knowledge you would gain by participating in our 4-week Korean language course (5x per week) as a beginner.

Daegu - Our Location in South Korea

The location of our 4-week orientation program in South Korea is the university city of Daegu. With 2.5 million inhabitants, Daegu is the country’s third-largest city. Due to its 6 universities and 17 other institutions of higher education that attract Korean and foreign students, Daegu has a young, creative, and international vibe. Downtown Daegu has many bars, clubs, shops, and markets that cater to young people. Because of the students, the cost of living in Daegu is also significantly cheaper compared to Seoul. Throughout the year, various festivals and events take place in Daegu, such as the Daegu Fashion Fair, the Asian Bodypainting Festival, the Chicken & Beer Festival, and the Daegu International Music Festival.

Daegu is centrally located in South Korea between the two larger cities of Seoul and Busan, which can be reached quickly and relatively cheaply by train, taking around 1 hour and 45 minutes to Seoul and 45 minutes to Busan. In Daegu's surrounding region, you can find historically significant villages and towns, Buddhist temples, and mountains like Palong-san.
