Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, is a city of rich culture, stunning architecture, and warm hospitality. Known for its colorful tiled facades, charming cobblestone streets, and iconic yellow trams, Lisbon is a city that blends history with a modern, innovative and creative spirit. Here, you can explore the famous Alfama district, the historic Belém Tower, or immerse yourself in the thriving art and music scene. Lisbon has an attractive nightlife, from traditional fado music performances to buzzing rooftop bars overlooking the city.
Lisbon is also a hub for innovation and social causes, making it the perfect place to grow professionally while connecting with inspiring individuals from around the globe.
Just a short train ride from Lisbon, Estoril, where our Beach House for interns is located, offers a serene yet lively coastal lifestyle. You’ll live with the Atlantic Ocean just steps away, making it easy to unwind after a day of impactful work. Estoril is known for its relaxed atmosphere, upscale vibe, and the stunning beach "Praia do Tamariz"—a perfect spot for sunbathing, swimming, or enjoying a beachside café with your fellow program participants.
From the Lisbon-Estoril area, many opportunities for exploration are at easy reach: Cascais is a neighboring town renowned for its lively marina and scenic coastline. Sintra, with its Moorish Castle, Palácio da Pena and the gardens of Quinta da Regaleira is a fairy-tale escape just a short train ride away. If you’re into water sports, Carcavelos Beach is the ultimate destination for surfing. In the area, more stunning beaches and natural parks can be visited during weekends.
Accommodation in Lisbon & Estoril
Beach House in Estoril, near Lisbon
You will stay in the coastal town of Estoril, an upscale suburb of Lisbon popular among locals for weekend or after-work beach outings. The train journey from Estoril to the Torre de Belém in Lisbon takes just over half an hour.
Our accommodation, the Beach House in Estoril, is only 400 meters from the beautiful Poca Beach and the seaside promenade lined with restaurants, ice cream stands, souvenir shops, and bars. This promenade stretches along the coast and is a year-round favorite for joggers, walkers, cyclists, and sunbathers. Further along, you’ll find the beaches Azarujinha and Tamariz. The sophisticated beach resort of Cascais is right next to Estoril.
The Beach House offers a welcoming atmosphere with a well-maintained garden featuring a small pool and cozy common areas, including a spacious lounge and a sunny terrace.
Standard accommodation is in shared dormitories, with mixed dorms or female-only dorms available upon request. For an additional fee, you can upgrade to a double room. Fresh bedding is provided.
A fully equipped communal kitchen is available at all times, and the fast, free Wi-Fi ensures you stay connected.
Three buffet-style meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner) are provided seven days a week, with an emphasis on sustainability. Vegetarian, gluten-free, and lactose-free meals are available upon request.
The Beach House is approximately 30 km from Lisbon International Airport.
