Morocco is a dream destination for many travelers, offering a unique blend of experiences that can't be found anywhere else. From the enchanting golden sand dunes of the Sahara Desert where you can witness mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets that paint the landscape with vibrant hues to the vibrant Arab cities with their ancient medinas and bustling souks, and the serene mountain towns and traditional Berber villages of the Rif and Atlas Mountains, Morocco is a country you must have seen!
While Morocco transports you to a bygone era, it also embraces modernity with its thriving economy, modern cityscapes, and exciting opportunities for volunteering and internships in various fields. This makes Morocco an ideal destination for both immersing yourself in a different culture and experiencing personal and professional growth.
Our base in Morocco is the captivating city of Tangier, situated on the Mediterranean coast, from where you can even see the coast of southern Spain on the other side of the Straight of Gibraltar. In Tangier, we arrange volunteering and internship placements, as well as language lessons in French, Arabic, and Darija.

Tangier
Tangier was an "International Zone" from 1925-1956, not belonging to any country but administered by the French, Spanish, British, and Italians. This is why Tangier has attracted a high number of expatriates including renowned international writers, contributing to its flourishing cultural scene. Due to its special legal and tax status, the city also became home to numerous eccentric millionaires from around the world, who constructed opulent villas and buildings on the city's seven hills, many of which still exist today. Tangier also served as a center of international espionage, with two James Bond films set in the city. The English word "tangerine" for the fruit mandarin originates from the name of the city of Tangier.
The old town, or medina, of Tangier is a vibrant and captivating Arab-Islamic tapestry of bustling markets, architectural gems including traditional riads, historic landmarks like the Kasbah and the lively Grand Socco, and hidden gems like tranquil mosques, serene gardens, and art galleries showcasing Moroccan artwork. As you navigate its intricate maze, you'll be immersed in a sensory experience of colorful textiles, aromatic spices, and the aromas of sizzling food such such as tagine, mechoui, brochettes, and harira soup, and sweet fried pastry including msemen, sfenj, b'stilla and chebakia.
Tangier offers an intriguing combination of the Arab-Islamic world that you will of course also get to know during your volunteering or internship assignments, and international influences from its time as an International zone.
Many wonderful excursions and trips can be made from Tangier, including the enchanting blue-washed town of Chefchaouen nestled in the Rif Mountains, the coastal town of Asilah, with its vibrant art galleries and historic medina, UNESCO World Heritage site Tetouan, which reflects a blend of Moroccan and Andalusian influences, Cape Spartel and Hercules Cave, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea, the scenic Rif Mountains with breathtaking landscapes and picturesque villages, and Tangier's surrounding beaches.
