Thinking about Ireland, images of rolling green hills grazed by dairy cows, sheep and horses, historic castles, rugged coastlines, Irish folk music and dancing, Guinness and Irish Pubs, and St. Patrick's Day, with people wearing green and celebrating Irish symbols such as the shamrock, the Celtic cross, and Celtic knots, come to mind.
The capital, Dublin, is known for its many pubs and the Guinness Storehouse, the 13th-century St. Patrick's Cathedral, and Dublin Castle, which attract many tourists to the city. Cork, situated in the southwest of Ireland, is famous for its maritime history, colorful streets, and its close proximity to beautiful landscapes such as the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way. Other famous cities include Limerick, which has a significant medieval heritage, and Galway, known for its artistic community and lively atmosphere.
The Irish countryside, thanks to its fertile soils, temperate climate, and ample rainwater resources, is also ideal for farming. In Ireland, which is often called "The Emerald Isle", we run programs mostly in the countryside, including farmwork, placements on horse ranches, Au Pair on farms, jobs in countryside tourism and hospitality, and volunteering in animal shelters.
A stay in Ireland is, of course, also an opportunity to improve your English skills. Accommodation in Ireland is usually provided by Irish host families, giving you an insight into everyday life in Ireland.
Many nationalities, including all citizens of the EU, Australia, Canada, the UK, the United States, Israel, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, South Africa, Taiwan, Argentina, Chile, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, and several other countries can enter Ireland without a visa and join our programs.

Farms in Ireland
Ireland's fertile soils, temperate climate, and abundant rainfall provide favorable conditions for farming. Livestock farming is a major component of Irish agriculture, with cattle, dairy cows, and sheep being the primary livestock raised on Irish farms. The country is renowned worldwide for its high-quality dairy products, thanks to the traditional practice of allowing dairy cows to graze on green pastures. Farming in Ireland is predominantly composed of family farms, and many rural communities revolve around agricultural activities. Alongside livestock farming, Ireland also produces crops, including barley, wheat, potatoes, and vegetables. There is an increasing focus on sustainable and organic farming practices in Ireland.
Our farm-related programs in Ireland offer more than just farmwork; you can also choose a different focus, such as being an Au Pair on a farm, caring for the farmer's children, or working on a farm that provides tourism services like accommodation or tourist activities.
For those interested in horses, Ireland is a top travel destination. The country has a rich equestrian tradition dating back centuries. Nowadays, Ireland is known for its sport horse breeding programs and is achieving international success in various equestrian sports disciplines. The country boasts excellent equestrian facilities, including world-class equestrian centers, training facilities, and stud farms. With a higher density of horses per inhabitant compared to any other country, Ireland is truly an equestrian haven.
If you have at least 5 years of recent experience with horses, you can join our horse program in Ireland.
All programs in Ireland are also available as internships for students in related courses.
Accommodation on Farms
Host Family in Ireland
Accommodation in Ireland is with Irish host families. Our team knows all host families in person, and only such families are chosen where our Irish program director, Caroline, feels comfortable enough to have her own son stay with.
For most of our hosts, the accommodation for program participants is in the family home, and meals are eaten with the family. A small number of our hosts have separate accommodation, but main meals are still eaten with the family. There is normally one main meal per day, along with a smaller breakfast and lunch. The main meal usually includes meat, potatoes, and vegetables, but most hosts are also happy to welcome vegetarians into their homes. However, the vegetarian will need to be okay with the host family eating meat.
Some of the bedrooms have an ensuite bathroom, while others share the family bathroom. Program participants will have the use of the family washing machine, where they can do their laundry, but it is polite to just check with the host mother if it is fine to use the machine. The host families have Wifi Internet that you can use.

Volunteering & Internships
Sado Island is the sixth largest island in Japan with 855 km2. When gold was found on Sado Island in 1601, the island flourished economically and culturally, developing a unique and rich cultural heritage, including performing arts such as dance, chanting and music, the world famous taiko drums, puppet shows, folklore festivals and traditional crafts. Sado has hundreds of Buddhist temples, Shinto shrines and several historic villages from the Edo period (1603-1867), most of which have remained architecturally intact.
We also organize Working Holiday jobs as well as internships in the fields of agriculture, gastronomy, tourism and fishing on Sado Island.
Accommodation
Mother Nature Camp at Koninji Temple
Accommodation for participants of our Mother Nature Environmental Camp on the island of Sado (Japan) takes place in the Koninji Temple in the south of Sado (near the village of Hamochihongo). It is a temple that was built by Buddhist monks in the year 811 and is particularly charming in the midst of an impressive hilly landscape of dense forests, terraced rice fields and small orchards not far from sandy beaches (Sobama Beach) and the Ogi port, which is popular with tourists for the Tarai Bune tours in traditional round boats.
Alternatively, we have erected a total of 7 large tents in the spacious outdoor area of the temple, which are fully furnished (with beds, cupboards and garden furniture in front of the tent). The tents can be booked as single, double and quadruple occupancy. If you live in a tent, you use the sanitary facilities of the guest house. We provide rechargeable flashlights / lanterns and umbrellas in the tents. The catering for guests (Japanese food) is freshly cooked and delivered every day.
