What did you do before starting your work at World Unite!?

I was a volunteer at the public library of Dodoma. I did cataloging and re/shelving books. Also helped coordinating a children's program that was held every Saturday. The library being one of my favorite places, my time there was a wonderful life changing experience.

What is your role at World Unite!?

I am part of both the international World Unite! Team (communication with participants, social media presentation) as well as of our local team in Tanzania where I provide ground support and assistance to our participants in Moshi and Arusha.

What do you enjoy the most about working at World Unite!?

I find the good communication and constant teamwork among World Unite! members captivating. With a considerable number of staff scattered around the globe, such a strong network makes a very encouraging working environment.

What place in Tanzania do you find most enjoyable to spend your leisure at?

Spending a day at one of the beaches in Dar es Salaam would complete a relaxing day. Swimming is not really what I would be doing ;-) just walking along the white sands, soaking in the hot sun or reading something beneath a coconut tree/makuti shade while enjoying the cool ocean breeze.

Going for walks in the interior vegetational Arusha is always a must-do as soon as I'm there even just for a short while. The nature and landscape, the views from the top of little hills, burbling streams below a beautiful waterfall is something I would always want to be part of. The relaxed and refreshed feeling i have during and after is priceless.

What is your favorite local food, and where can it be found?

Urojo will be it! It's a local food very popular in the oceanic regions especially Zanzibar; other places include Dar es Salaam and Bagamoyo. Urojo is a mixture of potatoes, cassava, barbecued/roasted meat, boiled eggs, spices and vegetables cooked to create a delicious soup. You can choose to have it with chilli; makes it spicier. You can find it in most (not all) local restaurants around these areas.

What should participants coming to Tanzania make sure not to miss?

A tour in the Jozani Forest Area in Zanzibar. The nature and landscape, flora and fauna in that area makes it a living paradise. The mangroves and exquisite tree species makes this place even more appealing. Not to mention the special Red Colobus Monkeys plus other beautiful animal species in this area. It's really a not-to-miss tour.

Do you have any hobbies or special interest, and where can you do your hobbies in Tanzania?

I enjoy outdoor running and long walks which I love doing in any location I happen to be in a certain period of time. I always make sure to have my running shoes with me wherever I go! I love reading and enjoy listening to music which I would do at a library or in a relaxing day at the beach.

What is the most memorable episode that you have experienced with a World Unite! participant?

Since I have just only joined the team, I'm looking forward to creating lots of beautiful memories and special episodes with our participants.
