Maria Eugenia is is our coordinator in Cochabamba. She is a Coach for Intercultural Communication that she has studied in the United States. She specializes in Latin American culture in general and Bolivian culture in particular. Maria Eugenia ("Mauge") is also a Spanish language teacher.
What do you enjoy the most about working at World Unite!?
I really enjoy the multiple variety of people who I get to meet, and the difference they can make to make this world a better place.
What place in Bolivia do you find most enjoyable to spend your leisure time at?
I really enjoy Hiking. We have beautiful mountains here.
What is your favourite local food, and where can it be found?
I love smoked pork ribs at Las Islas, a place where you can find all kinds of local food at very affordable costs. Delicious!
What should participants coming to Cochabamba make sure not to miss?
Las Islas, lovely and affordable local food, hiking around Cochabamba, visiting the jungle, doing rafting (4 hours from here) and visiting Toro Toro National Park... beautiful!!
Do you have any hobbies or special interests, and where can you do your hobbies in Bolivia?
I love hiking and exercising. There are many areas around the city where you can do so and the mountains are very nearby - maybe 10 minutes from our language school by public transportation.
What is the most memorable episode that you have experienced with a World Unite! participant?
Oh... so many but the most recent... We went rafting on a stormy day with two participants, Madita and Hannah... OMG! We had so much fun! The river was wild but the company we used was good and we were all safe. What an adventure! Also we made a two day hike to the Inca Trail TAKESI in La Paz. Jenny is with us, a former Wolrd Unite! volunteer.
