As a participant of World Unite!, you have the opportunity to support two projects with which we collaborate: Labdoo and Pack for a Purpose.
Labdoo
Labdoo is a nonprofit project that collects used laptops (which are repaired if necessary) and installs Ubuntu Linux along with a collection of free educational software suitable for users ranging from kindergarten age to the university level, including an encyclopedia. These computers are then distributed free of charge to schools and projects offering computer classes in 68 countries.
The laptops must meet certain minimum technical requirements. If a laptop is damaged, it will be replaced and can be returned for proper recycling.
In several destinations where we are active, we have selected educational projects that receive Labdoo computers. When you travel to these destinations, you can carry one or more laptops in your luggage and either deliver them directly to the project site or hand them over to our coordinator, who will ensure their delivery. Our coordinators also regularly check the status and condition of the computers. Additionally, travelers who are not World Unite! participants can also bring Labdoo laptops and entrust them to us.
You can obtain the laptops in many countries from one of almost 600 Labdoo "hubs" all over the world or they can be shipped to your home address free of charge before your departure.

Pack for a Purpose
Pack for a Purpose is a nonprofit organization based in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA, that provides travelers with lists of materials needed by charitable organizations at their travel destinations. So, travelers who want to ensure they bring the material donations that are truly needed can inform themselves through these lists.
We have selected one charitable project at each of several countries where we operate to receive these material donations. The project is regularly rotated, allowing more organizations to benefit from Pack for a Purpose.
Any traveler to the respective destination (not just World Unite! participants) who wishes to support the project by donating materials can either personally deliver the donation directly to the project (please contact us so that we can organize the handover) or hand it over to our local coordinators, who will then pass it on to the project.
Since many materials are also available locally, you can purchase them on-site as a traveler, thereby supporting local businesses. We are happy to assist you with your purchases.
