For Individuals

programs for high school students and graduates

High School Students & Graduates

Are you a high school student? Are you looking for an internship placement to gain real-world work experience? Do you want to do it abroad?

Or perhaps you're wondering what to do after your graduation and you are thinking about a gap year abroad?

Most of our programs are available for participants aged 16 and older. Only in a few cases, organization offering internships may require a higher age or there may be visa restrictions (such as Working Holiday Visas, which are unfortunately only available from the age of 18).

We have many internships abroad in various countries. Alternatively, if you don't want to travel, there's also the option of doing a remote internship with an organization abroad.

If you're looking to go abroad after graduating from high school, almost the entire range of our placements is available to you. You can do volunteer work or an internship for a shorter duration (from 1 week) or for a longer duration (up to one year), take a language course, or do Working Holidays.

If you're unsure about your future career interests and want to explore different fields of work, our Career Orientation Internship is a great option. We currently offer this program in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and India. While abroad, this program allows you to do multiple different internships one after the other. You won't have to commit to just one specific internship before your trip.

Please notice: There are no complicated application and selection processes with us! You can simply book online or, if you prefer, inquire first, and we will answer all your questions before you book. Most programs can also be booked at short notice (about 2-4 weeks lead time is sufficient).

programs for college, university students and graduates

College/ University Students & Graduates

Are you studying at a college/university or undergoing vocational training? Many courses require internships. We specialize in internships abroad. If necessary, we make sure that the internship will meet the requirements of your college/university, e.g. concerning the qualification of your supervisor, the amount of hours, and your specific tasks of your internship, so that you can get your course credits.

Before your internship, we can fill out any forms your college/university requires to be filled. After your internship, you will receive an internship certificate. If you are applying for a scholarship, we can provide the necessary documents for that as well.

This is also possible for remote internships that you can complete without traveling.

As a college/university graduate, before you commit to a full-time job, it makes sense to gain international experience, which can enhance your resume and job prospects. Or perhaps you plan to live and work abroad in the future. An internship or a year of Working Holidays is an excellent step-stone for your move abroad.

As a student or graduate, you can also book any of our other programs to gain valuable life and work experience and improve your foreign language skills.

programs for professionals

Professionals

Are you already in the workforce?

The willingness and ability to learn throughout life is a key qualification of the 21st century. Therefore, if you are already working, there is nothing wrong with gaining new experiences through an international internship to improve your skills.

Volunteers with professional expertise are always welcome in our volunteer projects worldwide. However, if you prefer, you can of course also choose to contribute to a cause that has nothing to do with your current professional background.

Many employers nowadays also offer sabbaticals or educational leave, allowing you to take a longer career break to develop personally and professionally abroad. Or you can do so just for a short time during your vacation. If you have limited time, our Adventure Tours, which combine short-term volunteering with tours of your host country, are a great option.

If you want to gain international experience without traveling while continuing your job, you can do so through a remote internship. You can conduct this from home (or any location with an internet connection) and even on a part-time basis. You can set the weekly hours yourself (from 6 hours per week).

If you want to improve your foreign language skills, you can take language lessons tailored to your current level. These can be done at our exciting destinations worldwide or remotely. We also offer various other courses worldwide on various topics.

Career and/or personal reorientation abroad can also be a motivation for participating in World Unite! programs. Finding a paid job in your field abroad from home is however not always easy. If you are under 31, you can get a Working Holiday Visa, allowing you to engage in paid employment abroad for up to one year. We currently offer Working Holiday support in Japan, South Korea and Germany whereby we will assist you in finding a job. After the one year of Working Holiday, there may be the possibility of continued employment. We also organize paid jobs in China. An unpaid internship (available in all countries where we operate) can provide an entry point for a new (professional) life abroad.

programs for active people of all ages

Active People of All Ages

Age is just a number! 50 is the new 30! We regularly have participants of all ages, even well into their 80s!

Social engagement, curiosity about other cultures, and an interest in intercultural learning know no age bounds. Are you searching for a new purpose? Do you want to learn something new and take a leap, seeking a break from family and daily life, or perhaps you have the desire to pass on your own professional skills and life insights to others meaningfully?

All of these are legitimate reasons for participating in our programs. Unlike high school or college students, older project participants bring life experience, specific expertise, years of experience in applying professional qualifications, and patience that younger volunteers often cannot offer in the same way. Therefore, older project participants are particularly welcome at our programs.

We understand that older participants sometimes have higher expectations for accommodation than students. We can help you find accommodation that meets your expectations and is still affordable for longer stays.

programs for families

Families

Participation with children is possible in many of our programs. For our Mother Nature programs in Japan, Zanzibar, and Tanzania, it is possible to rent a complete tent/room for your family, and there are child rates.

If your idea is to do an internship abroad and bring your child with you, we can look into organizing a kindergarten, school, or other childcare facility at the location where your child can be safe and well taken care of while you focus on your internship. If you are doing your internship in a childcare facility, your child may even be able to accompany you there.

Our remote internships provide a good way to balance having a child and doing an internship: These can be done part-time, as you can determine the number of hours per week yourself (starting from 6 hours per week). You are also quite flexible with regard to the times. And remote internships can be done comfortably from home without traveling.
