Our programs for healthcare students
Since 2006, we have been organizing clinical electives, nursing internships, pre-medical and pre-nursing internships, final year rotations and various other healthcare-related internships in fields such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, midwifery, pharmacy, as well as integrative medicine such as acupuncture and Ayurveda in hospitals, medical centers and clinics in various countries.
Several thousand students from around the world have successfully completed the electives/healthcare internships we arrange and were able to get credits for their medical college/university. Various hospitals are teaching hospitals of medical faculties and have been approved for final year rotation by the state examination offices of many countries.
Overview:
Countries: Tanzania, Zanzibar, South Africa, Morocco, India, Nicaragua, Bolivia
Specialties: Virtually all existing specialties/departments such as internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, gynecology, ENT, dentistry, ophthalmology, and many more (depending on the hospital), including super specialties
Ambulatory care (outpatient departments in hospitals) and general medical care (in dispensaries and clinics) are also possible
Here's how it works:
1. We usually need about 4 weeks lead time to organize your elective/internship. If you can register earlier, even better!
2. You choose your preferred hospital from our website. If you're unsure whether your college's/university's requirements can be fulfilled, you can select "Send Inquiry" before booking and provide us with the requirements from your university, so we can verify whether those requirements can be met with your chosen hospital. If necessary, we might suggest another hospital to you.
3. The duration is usually flexible, starting from 2 weeks (depending on the hospital).
4. For most hospitals, we need additional documents from you (which you can also submit after booking), such as a certificate of unversity enrollment. These depend on the hospital, and we'll inform you.
5. We take care of filling out the necessary forms for your college/university that you need to get your credits, before and after your elective.
Mnazi Mmoja Hospital Zanzibar is super popular for electives, nursing internships, midwifery internships, physiotherapy/occupational therapy, etc. This 767-bed hospital covers all major medical specialties. The acupuncture department is unique in East Africa. In Zanzibar, you have the opportunity to combine your elective/internship with tropical beaches.
Mount Meru Regional Hospital is a 450-bed hospital with many specialties and receives numerous international students for electives, nursing internships, etc. Arusha is a tourist hotspot from which safari tours to all northern Tanzanian national parks like Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater start.
In Moshi, at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, we facilitate medical/nursing internships in several district hospitals, health centers, and dispensaries of various sizes and specialties, both in the city and in rural areas.
Bugando Medical Center in Mwanza on Lake Victoria is the third-largest hospital in Tanzania with 900 beds. As a teaching hospital of Bugando University College of Health Science, it accepts students from their 4th year of studies onwards and offers final year rotations.
In Tangier, in the far north of Morocco, we arrange French and Arabic speaking electives and internships in various high-standard private hospitals, in a dental clinic, and at a physiotherapy practice.
In Jaipur, Rajasthan, the land of Indian kings, you can do an elective or internship in Western medicine (including nursing, obstetrics) at various large hospitals. Pre-electives/pre-nursing internships are also possible, even if you are not enrolled in a healthcare related course yet. Alternatively, we can also organize internships in Ayurveda.
