Social Work and NGO Support in Tanzania
As a remote intern in communication and administration for NGOs in Tanzania, you will be connected to the team of one of our partner organizations in the Kilimanjaro region via the internet and collaborate with them. The NGOs we work with operate in areas such as human rights, development work, poverty alleviation, actions against female genital mutilation, education, youth development, and psychotherapy. You can specify your preferences!
One highlight that organizations are happy to arrange for you are virtual encounters. You will have the opportunity to communicate directly with the beneficiaries of the NGO via webcam, such as a virtual visit to a youth community center, a family supported by a social work NGO, or a group meeting of a savings group at Kilimanjaro! Although you will be sitting at home in front of your computer, tablet, or mobile phone, you will be "right in the middle" of the action and get a true insight into the organization's work on the ground and the beneficiaries' reality.
What are your tasks as an intern or volunteer in NGO support?
Research and report creation
Conducting research on social, economic, or environmental topics relevant to the NGO's mission. Assisting in writing reports, case studies, and funding proposals. Evaluating ongoing projects and preparing assessment reports.
Social media and communication
Managing social media platforms by creating posts, uploading photos, and interacting with followers. Designing promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and newsletters. Writing blog posts or website content to highlight projects and success stories.
Financial and logistical tasks
Assisting with budgeting and financial reporting. Managing logistics for projects, workshops, or training. Supporting the organization in fundraising campaigns and events.
Capacity building and training
Developing training materials or manuals for local staff and beneficiaries. Assisting with IT tasks, such as setting up computers, maintaining websites, or solving technical issues. Providing administrative support for workshops or community programs.
Language and translation tasks
Translating documents or interpreting at meetings with local stakeholders or international visitors.
Donor and stakeholder relations
Preparing presentations and proposals for potential donors or partners. Providing regular updates on project progress and results via newsletters or email notifications to donors.
These tasks not only help the NGO achieve its goals but also provide you with practical experience in non-profit management and intercultural cooperation.
Organizations in the Kilimanjaro Region
We work with several organizations in the Kilimanjaro region.
A leading NGO combats female genital mutilation (FGM) through awareness campaigns and educational seminars for leaders, healthcare professionals, and traditional practitioners. As a remote intern, you will assist in creating informational materials and graphic design.
Another organization focuses on supporting families, children, and youth in disadvantaged areas through home visits, counseling, and talent promotion in music and sports programs. Remote interns support fundraising, communication, and social media activities.
A mental health organization offers therapy, self-help groups, and outreach programs, with remote interns contributing to the creation of educational materials, fundraising, and maintaining relationships with donors.
A human rights organization empowers disadvantaged women and marginalized groups by educating them about their rights and providing free legal advice. As a remote intern, you will assist the organization in content creation, documentation, and administrative tasks.
A microfinance organization conducts economic development programs, where remote interns assist with administrative tasks, creating training materials, and developing case studies.
About the remote internship
The internship can be conducted in English. You can determine the intensity (6-40 hours per week) yourself. There will be fixed times (at least 2 hours per week) where you meet online with your internship supervisor, receive tasks, and get qualified feedback on your activities. The remaining time, you work independently. The scope of the tasks will be adjusted to your desired weekly hours.
