Remote psychology internship with an Indian psychologist (PhD)

The psychologist overseeing the internship holds degrees in Human Development and Family Studies (PhD), a Master’s degree in Human Development and Family Counseling, a diploma in Criminal Psychology, a diploma in Counseling, and an MBA.

After several years of working as a psychologist for the Indian Air Force, schools, and hospitals, she opened her own clinic in 2008. Her areas of expertise include psychological counseling, marriage counseling, addiction issues, infertility, grief, youth problems, career and academic challenges, and HR services. Since psychological counseling is not widely practiced in Rajasthan, there are very few specialized counselors, and psychologists typically work across a broad range of cases and issues.

For the remote internship, the psychologist will provide you with anonymized case studies of her patients along with related assignments. You will discuss the cases and your analyses with her every Saturday afternoon (Indian time). Throughout the week, you can also communicate with her via email and WhatsApp for any follow-up questions. The purpose of this internship is to develop your counseling skills. During the weekly supervision sessions, you will review the cases as well as the associated psychological theories together with her. You will learn to identify patients' problems and specific disorders and propose therapeutic approaches. Over the course of a month, you will work on approximately 10 to 15 cases of varying complexity. Another key objective is to integrate the cultural aspects of the cases into your analysis.

The psychologist is also open to discussing psychological topics and assigning tasks related to interculturality, relationship violence, and behaviors, identities, and communities that exist in contrast to or in opposition to socially and culturally dominant sexualities.

If you enrol for three months, you can receive basic training in psychology for human resources. If you enrol for six months, you can undertake training in strategic HR psychology.

The number of weekly hours you spend preparing for talks with the psychologist from Monday to Friday is flexible (ranging from 6 to 40 hours), and your assignments will be adjusted accordingly.

Participants who wish to write an academic paper in the field of psychology are also welcome. They can incorporate their case studies into their research, provided that patient privacy and anonymity are strictly maintained.
