Why doing a hotel internship in South Africa?
South Africa is a popular and trendy travel destination. Breathtaking landscapes, eclectic cultural and historical attractions, and friendly residents attract travelers from all over the world to the southernmost country on the African continent. Domestic tourism and the MICE sector (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, Events) are also well developed.
During a hotel internship in South Africa, you will not only get to know this fascinating country firsthand, but you will also gain valuable experience in the hotel and tourism sector. You will work together with the team of a hotel that receives guests from all over the world, where, besides professional skills, you can also develop your intercultural ones.
How does it work?
We organize hotel internships in hotels of various standards and sizes in South Africa. In smaller hotels, you are usually a generalist and get insights into all areas of hotel operations. In larger hotels, work is more department-specific.

Here are some examples of hotels where we offer internships:
5-star boutique hotel in Franschhoek
An internship is possible between the months of September and April. About 30% of your tasks are in the office (planning and preparation, handling bookings, communications, social media marketing) and 70% are service tasks such as guest support, check-in/check-out, breakfast preparation, planning, and providing services at weddings and conferences. You will work 45 hours/week on 5 days/week, which may include weekends. Accommodation is provided at the hotel, and you also receive pocket money.
5-star boutique hotel in Camps Bay
The internship should last 2-5 months, during which you will work for 8 hours a day for 5 days a week in the areas of breakfast, administration, check-in, and front desk. You will receive free accommodation, beverages, and use of a car.
Medium Standard Guest House
As an intern, you can expect an open and friendly working atmosphere and varied work. You can learn about all the work needed to run such a guesthouse, including guest relations, check-in/check-out, answering inquiries and handling bookings, administrative tasks, supervision of the breakfast service, handling and assisting with tours and car rental bookings, stock-keeping, marketing, housekeeping, and planning and supervising staff.
