Hotel and Water Sports Internships on the Dakhla Peninsula
We offer hotel and water sports internships at upscale hotels on the Dakhla Peninsula on the Atlantic coast.
The Dakhla Peninsula is primarily popular among Moroccan, French, and Spanish tourists as a vacation destination. It is "where the desert meets the sea" and known for its coastal landscapes with beaches along the Atlantic and the lagoon with excellent conditions for water sports, due to year-round winds, especially kite surfing and windsurfing. The Sahara Desert extends right up to the sea. The historic city of Dakhla has a tourist-attractive historic old town and just over 100,000 inhabitants.
Some hotels we cooperate with are located directly on the beach, either on the lagoon or on the Atlantic side of the peninsula. On large, natural plots of land, there are individual bungalows/chalets of upscale standards. The bungalows/chalets vary in size from 2-4 people and mostly offer sea views. Some chalets have private pools. Due to water scarcity, pools are usually filled with seawater. The facilities often feature eco-friendly features such as solar power and consist of 20-70 bungalows.
The hotels have water sports centers that offer courses and equipment rental for activities such as kite surfing, kite foil, wing foil, wake foil, windsurfing, wakeboarding, stand-up paddleboarding, and other water sports. Some hotels also organize excursions such as bird watching, boat trips, and desert tours. Wellness and spa offers as well as yoga and fitness studios are also common. All facilities have a bar and a restaurant. The restaurants usually specialize in fish dishes. Some hotels offer MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Events) packages.
The upscale restaurants offer a fusion of local Moroccan and international cuisine.
One hotel is located in the desert and is designed as a "Sahara experience". The bungalows have tent roofs, and activities such as stargazing and camel riding are organized.
As an intern, the following activities are possible:
Entertainer/Sports instructor: For this, you should already have prior knowledge and would conduct activities such as yoga, music, sports, etc., with tourists, as well as being assigned to the fitness center and/or spa/wellness area.
Water Sports: The instructors employed by the hotel all have internationally recognized certificates as water sports instructors. If you have such a certificate, you can also work as an instructor; if not, you will assist at the water sports center reception, maintenance, and storage of equipment, and introduction to the use of equipment.
Restaurant: Without prior knowledge, you can get involved as a waiter/waitress and assistant in the restaurant and bar. If you already have experience, internships in the restaurant kitchen are also possible.
It is also possible to rotate through various departments within the internship.
You work according to a shift schedule for 44 hours per week, spread over 6 days per week. One day per week is free. Shifts can be in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
Internships in management/office are not possible, as this activity is not carried out directly in the beach hotels but in the main offices of the hotels in Rabat.
How it works:
You send us your curriculum vitae in English or French with an application photo and let us know what is important to you in the internship as well as your desired time frame. This is completely non-binding and free of charge for you. After a few days, we will suggest a specific hotel that would take you and share the exact conditions for your internship with you. In some cases, there may be an online interview. You then decide whether you want to accept the internship. You incur no obligation beforehand.
