Internship in Architecture and Interior Design in Malta
The construction sector in Malta is a dynamic and growing industry, driven by urban development, tourism, and the demand for residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects. A mix of modern architectural styles and traditional Maltese limestone buildings shapes the landscape, with the restoration and preservation of historical structures playing a significant role. The sector faces challenges such as limited land availability, environmental issues, and the pressure for sustainable development. In recent years, ecological construction practices, smart city projects, and innovative design solutions have gained importance, reflecting Malta’s efforts to balance growth with environmental conservation.
An internship in architecture or interior design in Malta offers you the opportunity to gain practical experience in a creative and dynamic environment. You will be part of a professional team, work on exciting projects, and gain hands-on experience that contributes to your professional development.
Your Tasks as an Architecture/Interior Design Intern:
- Contributing to designs: Assist in the development of designs and concepts for buildings, spaces, or interior projects.
- Drafting and modeling: Work with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or SketchUp to create plans, models, and visualizations.
- Material and color planning: Research and select materials, colors, and textures for use in projects.
- Space planning and furnishing: Support the design of interior spaces, including furniture selection and functional layouts.
- Research and analysis: Conduct site analyses, market research, or studies on new trends and sustainable design solutions.
- Project coordination: Assist with organizing project schedules, timelines, and communication processes.
- Participating in meetings: Collaborate with architects, designers, and clients to present ideas and incorporate feedback.
- Construction preparation and documentation: Help to create construction documents, technical specifications, and tender packages.
- Site visits: Gain insights into construction processes by documenting progress and conducting quality checks on-site.
- Project presentations: Prepare mood boards, presentations, and reports for internal or external purposes.
You will be assigned a qualified and experienced internship supervisor. Weekly working hours are 30-40 hours.
Booking Process
If you are flexible and are okay with us selecting an internship placement within the internship category you have chosen, you can book this program directly online on this page.
After your booking, please send us your CV/resume in English by email to
Alternatively, you can first send an inquiry and let us know your preferences, as well as, in the case of a mandatory internship, the requirements of your school or university (e.g., regarding tasks, hours, or supervision). We can then either confirm whether such an internship is available or, in some cases (but not always), already name a specific internship company/organisation. You would book only if you choose to accept the internship.
In both cases, you can secure your spot with a deposit of 100 EUR/USD. You pay the remaining amount only one month before the program starts.
Since the online booking of the accommodation can be a bit tricky due to different weekly rates depending on the season, we are happy to handle the exact calculation per day of stay for you. After letting us know your flight details and exact travel dates, you can then manually book the accommodation. We would then send you an invoice and a payment link.
