Description

Community Volunteering in Malta

Volunteering in Malta offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while experiencing the island’s breathtaking beauty and vibrant culture. By contributing to causes like community development, animal welfare, or supporting vulnerable populations, you’ll play a vital role in projects that matter. As you give back, you’ll also immerse yourself in Malta’s warm hospitality, apply your English language skills, explore its historic sites, and enjoy sunny days by the sparkling Mediterranean Sea. Whether you’re drawn to Malta’s rich history, stunning beaches, or the chance to meet like-minded people from around the globe, volunteering here is an unforgettable way to create positive change while broadening your horizons.

What can I do as a Community Volunteer in Malta?

Charity and Community Service:

This category encompasses a wide range of volunteering opportunities designed to support individuals and communities in need. You might find yourself working at food banks to distribute essential supplies, assisting in shelters that provide refuge for homeless individuals or those experiencing vulnerability, or helping to organize and run community events that bring people together and uplift the area. Volunteers often engage in tasks like preparing meals, managing donations, providing companionship, or supporting education and employment programs. These roles not only offer a chance to make a tangible difference but also foster connections with the local community, promoting a deeper understanding of the challenges they face and the resilience they show.

Charity Shops/Thrift Store:

Run by charitable or social organizations, charity shops are vital fundraising hubs that support a variety of meaningful causes. As a volunteer, you could be involved in sorting through donated goods, ensuring they are in good condition and suitable for sale. You might also assist customers with their shopping experience, arrange displays, or help to manage inventory. These roles provide a behind-the-scenes look at how nonprofits sustain their initiatives while offering the satisfaction of contributing to a cause that directly benefits from your efforts. Charity shops are excellent environments for gaining retail experience, meeting new people, and supporting the community.

Animal Shelter:

At an animal shelters, you might assist with feeding, grooming, and exercising animals, as well as maintaining clean and safe living spaces for them. Beyond hands-on care, volunteers may also help with administrative tasks, fundraising, or coordinating adoption events to find loving homes for the animals. Opportunities to engage with local veterinarians, rescue teams, and animal advocacy groups further expand your understanding of the field. By volunteering in animal welfare, you not only improve the lives of animals but also contribute to creating a society that is more compassionate towards animals.

The Booking Process

You can just make an online booking through this website. You can let us know now or later which one of the 3 categories you would like to get involved in. Please also email us your CV/resume. Once we receive it, we will coordinate with local NGOs in Malta and provide you with a profile of the organization where you will be volunteering.

Combining Volunteering and English lessons:

If you want to learn English lessons while volunteering, you can take English lessons at our partner language school in the mornings (20 hours per week) and volunteer in the afternoons.
