Multidisciplinary Therapy Center for Children
The team of the private institution consists of 3 clinical psychologists, 5 occupational therapists, 7 special educators, and 3 speech therapists who work together to ensure comprehensive care. About 80% of the approximately 500 children receiving care have an autism spectrum disorder, while the remaining children are diagnosed with conditions such as virtual autism, Down syndrome, speech and communication impairments, intellectual disabilities, learning difficulties, ADHD, global developmental delay, behavioral issues, and mental health disorders.
The center offers a wide range of therapies, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Sensory Integration Therapy, Hippotherapy, Psychotherapy, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Special Education. Around 110 therapy sessions take place daily to provide continuous and structured support to the children.
The institution has specialized therapy rooms and follows an "open-door" strategy, allowing parents to observe the sessions through CCTV cameras. Regular follow-ups, assistance with home exercises, and an app help parents track their child's progress and support the process. In addition to direct therapy, the center conducts research on autism, such as the impact of diet and screen time on autism, and offers workshops with parenting tips for parents of autistic children.
Another program of the institution includes training sessions for teachers and informational events for parents. The focus is on the early detection of neurodevelopmental and speech-related divergences in children aged 2 to 7 years. The center collaborates with five partner schools to implement early intervention strategies directly in the classroom.
Your Tasks as an Intern
The internship at the Center for Autism Therapy and Multidisciplinary Child Development offers a valuable learning opportunity for students and graduates of psychology, special education, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and related disciplines. While interns can focus on their specific field, they will also gain insights into all other therapy approaches carried out at the center, providing an interdisciplinary learning experience.
Interns will observe therapy sessions and may assist under supervision. After each session, the specialists explain the treatment approaches used. Additionally, interns have access to patient files, assist in writing therapy reports, and may be assigned research tasks. While therapy sessions are conducted in Hindi or English, depending on the parents' language, all documentation is done in English.
As an intern, you will be at the center for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
