Project Details

Kayakalp is beautifully set in a large park-like site in the valley on the outskirts of Palampur, surrounded by snow-capped mountains of the Himalayas; located perfectly for a spa and treatment center for physiotherapy, naturopathy and Panchakarma.
Patients are sent here from other hospitals for physiotherapy. The department is very extensive, modern and technically equipped; it offers Micro and Short Wave Diathermy, Contrast Baths, Wax Baths, Continuous Passive Motion (CPM), Crossfire and Vacuum Vectron, Current Muscle Stimulation, laser therapy, ultrasound therapy, electromyography (EMG), traction therapy, magnetic therapy, tilt table testing, Interferential Therapy, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and a gym.
In the field of natural medicine, there are water/bath treatments (hydrotherapy and balneotherapy), mud baths, massages (including Acupressure and Acupuncture), diets and heating and cooling therapy.
Panchakarma is a cleansing routine in Ayurveda and has the aim of "purification" of the body, which, in addition to environmental toxins, metabolic waste products and undigested food components, also includes a spiritual purification. At Kayakalp, they offer eight different herbal massages, which aim to stimulate blood circulation, strengthen the immune system, reduce stress and eliminate toxins. There are no ayurvedic medicines administered at Kayakalp.
Kayakalp also offers daily meditation in an architecturally appealing meditation center at 6.00 a.m. and yoga at 5.00 p.m.
"Kaya" in Sanskrit means "body” and "Kalp” means "transformation”. Kayakalp aims at a holistic transformation of body, mind and soul to stop the aging process.
Guests arrive at the center "for a cure” and patients are referred there by physicians from other hospitals (mainly for physiotherapy).
On the site, there are also accommodations for patients, designed to be attractive for tourists. There are 80 beds; about 40 people participate in daily treatments. In addition, there are about 30 patients who reside outside and visit daily.
There is also training at the center, in classrooms; the head of training is Dr. Ashitosh, an Ayurvedic doctor.
Internships for students and graduates of physiotherapy and naturopathy are possible under the guidance of professionals. It comes with a monthly contribution of 5000 Rupees.
