Course & Internship

If you want to learn Indian cooking and study directly under professional chefs in India, you can join our 2-week short-term cooking course at a culinary training institute for professional restaurant chefs in Jaipur. You can also add a culinary Hindi language course and an internship in an Indian restaurant.
Description

North Indian Cooking Course

The North Indian cuisine is known for its rich, aromatic, and creamy dishes, heavily influenced by dairy products like ghee, yogurt, and paneer. Unlike South India, where rice dominates, North Indian meals often feature various breads such as naan, roti, and paratha. The cuisine includes thick, tomato-based curries like Butter Chicken and Dal Makhani, flavored with warm spices like garam masala, cumin, and cardamom. Tandoori dishes, cooked in clay ovens, are also popular, alongside fragrant rice dishes like Biryani. Sweet desserts such as Gulab Jamun and Kheer, as well as beverages like Lassi and Masala Chai, round out the diverse and flavorful culinary tradition.

The cooking course consists of 10 lessons conducted over 2 weeks. Each lesson lasts 3-4 hours, followed by one hour for dining. The course is taught in English in small groups of up to 6 participants. This short program has been specifically designed for our participants by a training institute that normally trains professional restaurant chefs over 2-4 years. The institute is equipped with state-of-the-art professional cooking and baking studios.

All ingredients are included, and you can eat the dishes you cook after class.

During the two weeks, there is a guided visit to a spice market and a vegetable market.

At the end of the cooking course, you will receive a certificate of participation.

Internship in an Indian Restaurant

If you want to immerse yourself further in Indian cuisine, we recommend adding a 4- to 8-week restaurant internship after your cooking lessons.

Your total 6- to 10-week stay in Jaipur could be structured as follows:

  1. Cooking Course: You will first take part in the 2-week cooking course described above (10 lessons).
  2. Culinary Hindi Language Classes: Simultaneously with the cooking course, you will have language lessons—Monday to Friday for one hour per day, totaling 10 hours. The goal of the language course is to prepare you for your internship in an Indian restaurant kitchen. In the first week, you will learn general Hindi basics such as greetings. In the second week, you will learn kitchen-related vocabulary, including cooking methods and the names of dishes and ingredients.
  3. Restaurant Internship: After the two weeks of cooking and language lessons, you can complete a 4- to 8-week internship in an Indian restaurant in Jaipur. These are high-standard restaurants specializing in North Indian cuisine. Some restaurants also offer fusion cuisine with traditional South Indian dishes, other Asian specialties, and Western dishes. You will be involved in the kitchen for 30-35 hours per week and will learn a lot about Indian cuisine at a professional level.

At the end of the program, you will receive a certificate of participation.

Affordable shared apartment accommodation can be booked for the entire duration.
