Internship
Combine from the following options in Jaipur/India:
Teaching: English, Science, Basic Computer Skills (min. 1 week)
You will teach one-hour classes from Monday to Friday between 2 PM and 6 PM in English and/or science and/or basic computer skills to children aged 6-14 from slum areas who attend a free educational center. The lessons are divided into different age groups: preschool (lower and upper kindergarten level), 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. Additionally, there are weekly “fun classes” that promote the children’s practical and creative skills, where you can choose the content yourself.
Social Work with Children (min. 1 week)
Internships in social work are possible in various organizations, such as:
- A shelter for boys aged 6-18 who have been rescued from child labor and temporarily live in the home until their families are located and they can be reintegrated.
- A residential home for girls aged 8-18 from impoverished slum families affected by HIV, where their families are unable to provide adequate care.
- A similar facility for boys aged 6-18.
In all these facilities, you will engage with the children, provide mental and emotional support, conduct games and sports activities to strengthen them physically and mentally, assist with education such as English and literacy, and organize hobbies like art and music.
Horse Care (min. 1 week)
Are you passionate about horses and want to improve your knowledge of horse care? A riding stable in Jaipur houses 12 horses, some of which are used as sport horses for polo or rented out for riding lessons for children and adults on the adjacent grass field. Some older horses and a blind horse also live at the stable. You will work with two local caretakers, feeding and washing the horses daily as well as maintaining their accommodations.
Animal Shelter (min. 2 weeks)
A large animal shelter with an animal hospital, whose mobile veterinary team operates a hotline and rescues around 10,000 animals annually—including dogs, cats, monkeys, birds, cows, horses, donkeys, camels, and rabbits—offers you the opportunity to gain experience in animal care. Your tasks will include cleaning enclosures, feeding animals, walking dogs within the shelter grounds, and engaging with the animals. You can also accompany the rescue team and learn how animals are safely captured.
Hospital (min. 2 weeks)
Even without any previous experience, an internship is possible in a large, private hospital which has the departments of general medicine, internal medicine, orthopedics, gynecology & births, pediatrics, surgery, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, neurology, plastic surgery, dermatology, gastroenterology, psychiatry, cardiology, dentistry and physiotherapy. You will observe and help the local staff (nurses, doctors, therapists) with simple tasks and learn about working in a hospital.
An additional contribution of 65 EUR per any duration of hospital internship of 2-4 weeks applies, if you choose this internship placement. Choose Quantity "1" from the Extras if you plan to intern at the hospital for 2-4 weeks; choose Quantity "2" from the Extras to intern for 5-8 weeks.
Business (min. 2 weeks)
The internship takes place at a business consulting and business research company that conducts economic research for the government of India, international organizations, and private companies, producing reports that are used for feasibility studies, policy making, and planning and development of infrastructure and technology. The company has around 20 full-time staff with qualifications in economics and engineering, as well as a network of hundreds of freelancers from various industries.
The company also runs a start-up mentoring program, an IT department with 14 programmers who are implementing software solutions for customers, a franchise system for educational centers and a food park for processing and packaging vegetables, fruits and grains.
As an intern, you can join the research and consulting team and learn about the collection and analysis of economic data, as well as get insights into the work of start-ups and the company's other fields of activity.
IT Internship (min. 2 weeks)
In a software company you can get an insight into the project work for creating websites and apps. You do not need to have any related knowledge, but you will become familiar with terms and concepts such as HTML, CSS, CMS, PHP, MySQL, front-end and back-end programming, project management, search engine optimization, amongst others.
Marketing (min. 1 week)
The 4Ps of marketing are product, price, place and promotion. Your internship can be related to any of these areas and can take place at a company such as a tour operator or a non-profit organization. A typical field of activity for interns is social media marketing. You would create and publish contents such as images, stories, information, videos, etc. for social media platforms.
NGO Administration (min. 1 week)
Would you like to learn how a non-profit organization working in fields such as social work or animal welfare is organized, managed, and funded? As an intern, you can participate in office tasks such as planning the organization’s activities, preparing reports, handling administrative duties, or organizing fundraising campaigns and events.
Comprehensive Support Before and During Your Stay in India
In Jaipur, you will live in a shared apartment with other international participants or, if preferred, with a host family. Our team of four female support staff is there for you. Once a week, you can participate in an Indian cultural activity at no extra cost, such as yoga, Indian dance, henna painting, Bollywood dance, Hindi lessons, or cooking classes. We also organize day and weekend trips at a small additional cost.
Due to the close contact with our support team, the Job Orientation Internship is also well-suited for younger participants (aged 16 and above) who are traveling abroad for an extended period for the first time. Naturally, you will have a dedicated point of contact both before and during your stay in India from our English-speaking office team.
