Internships Abroad

We offer a wide range of internships abroad in many fields in various countries – both on-site abroad and as online/remote internships.
Our internships abroad are aimed, for example, at university/college students and trainees who must or want to complete an internship as part of their studies/training, highschool students and graduates who want to gain first work experience, or anyone seeking work experience or (re)orientation abroad or wants to expand their global competence.
Such internships are an investment in your future and enhance any résumé. From home, it is often difficult to organize such internships on your own. Through our placement services, preparation, and support, we save you a lot of time and effort.
For students, these internships can be supervised by qualified staff at the internship placement, making it possible for students to receive academic credit for the internship. If you want to have your internship recognized for academic credit, please inform us from the beginning about the requirements of your school/university/training institution (e.g., minimum number of hours or qualifications of the internship supervisor).
Our international internships are unpaid. However, some private internship providers offer pocket money and/or provide accommodation and/or meals on site. If this is the case, it is mentioned in the descriptions of the internships.
Online/Remote Internships
You can do an online/remote internship comfortably in a "home office" style, without needing to travel. You communicate online with your qualified internship supervisor abroad and you work on tasks independently that you will then discuss with your supervisor.
We only offer online/remote internships at locations where we are active on-site ourselves. We know all the companies and organizations offering online/remote internships well, and our local staff supports your learning experience.
Job Orientation Internships
If you are not yet sure which field of study or profession you are interested in, you may find out through one of our job orientation internships. During your stay in the host country, you can complete several short-term internships and determine which field appeals to you the most.
Recognition of Volunteering as a Mandatory Internship
Through our cooperation with the British Centre for Global Citizenship Studies (CGCS), it is possible to gain academic credit when doing volunteer work. You simply have to complete the UK-accredited online course "Diploma in International Volunteering" alongside your volunteer work.
You can choose your focus: Marine Conservation, Wildlife Conservation, or Global Citizenship.

Volunteering
We organize a wide range of volunteer placements in many countries in areas such as social work, education, medicine & nursing, environmental protection, animal welfare, arts & culture, sports, and other fields.
Why volunteer abroad?
For many, it is a heartfelt wish to volunteer abroad. They want to contribute to a good cause and thus help create a better and fairer world.
In return for this commitment, you receive personal joy and satisfaction from volunteering when your wish to be needed is fulfilled. You get to know a new culture and gain experience in overcoming unfamiliar challenges, which contributes to your personal development. You improve your foreign language skills and meet like-minded people with whom you can have a great time. Volunteering abroad also looks good on your résumé.
We try to convey to our volunteers that their commitment is not just charity, but a form of "exchange". You give something and also get a lot in return.
Why with World Unite!?
We believe it is in the interest of our participants that their volunteer service brings real value to their project and host country.
Before we add new volunteer placements, we thoroughly assess them. We are also in constant exchange with our participants, who are often a part of the projects for weeks or months and thus gain detailed insights. We have long-standing partnerships with many organizations where we place volunteers. Based on our own evaluations and continuous feedback from participants, we can largely ensure that your work is meaningful.
As an ethically-guided organization, we do not offer placements just because they "sell well" and avoid any statements or motives on our website that are merely aimed at eliciting pity or suggest a sense of superiority of the developed world over people in so-called developing countries. We are committed to not making any knowingly false claims about the usefulness or purpose of certain programs.

Working Holiday
Japan, South Korea, and Germany
Working Holiday (also called “Work&Travel) refers to a longer stay (usually up to 1 year) in a country that issues a “Working Holiday Visa” to certain nationalities. There is always an age restriction, usually 18–30 or 18–35 years.
The purpose of the Working Holiday Visa is to get to know the country, its culture, and way of life. You are allowed to take up paid jobs legally to finance your extended stay abroad.
We specialize in Working Holidays in Japan, South Korea, and Germany. Typical jobs include service positions in hotels, restaurants, cafés, and shops, factory work, farm work, teaching assistant roles, or childcare and babysitting. If you have professional qualifications, you may also find a job in your field, although this often requires solid knowledge of the local language.

Ireland
Our programs in Ireland are available to EU citizens and many other nationalities without a visa. However, to participate, you must be currently enrolled as a school student, apprentice, or university student, or have completed your studies/training no more than one year ago. Our placements in Ireland are unpaid positions in rural areas (on farms, horse ranches, in rural tourism, or as an au pair with a farming family), where you receive free accommodation and meals, and sometimes also pocket money.
These programs are available to EU citizens and many other nationalities without a visa. Participation on an Irish Working Holiday Visa is also possible. To participate, you must be enrolled as a highschool student, trainee, or university/college student, or have graduated from your school, training, or studies less than a year ago.
China
There is no Working Holiday Visa for China. However, we organize paid jobs via the Z visa in hotels and as language teachers at international schools. You must commit for at least one year. To obtain the visa, you must have completed at least a BA degree at least 2 years before the visa application.

Adventure Tours
Our World Adventure Tours combine short-term volunteering with exciting trips & activities, focusing on being active, outdoors, and experiencing the host country’s nature and culture. You spend a few days with a nonprofit organization doing volunteer work, and on other days, you take part in excursions, sightseeing, and other activities.
This option is perfect for travelers with limited time who want to volunteer while also exploring the natural wonders, attractions, and diversity of their destination.
Why World Adventure Tours?
Almost everyone who travels as a volunteer or intern to a faraway country wants to explore the host country in addition to volunteering. After all, it would be a pity to go to Tanzania and never see the Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, or lions and giraffes.
At the same time, a growing number of tourists want their vacations to have a positive impact on the country they visit rather than just being passive consumers.
Our "World Adventure Tours" cater to these interests. Volunteering and excursions are well-coordinated in terms of time and content.
The volunteer work included in the World Adventure Tour is designed so that even a short-term volunteer stay is beneficial for the project. Additionally, a donation benefits the project.
For the excursions and activities included in the tours, we focus on sustainability. Local tourism initiatives and ecotourism offerings are integrated and benefit from your visit. We work with small and medium-sized local partners who promote socially and environmentally responsible travel. Some tours include visits to interesting local projects which are not easily accessible to regular tourists.
"Tourism" and "Volunteering" are not opposites – they combine beautifully!

Course Programs
Our courses are available both as on-site programs abroad and as online offerings.
Language Courses
We organize language courses in many countries. You can participate whether you are a complete beginner or want to improve or refresh your existing skills.
Learn the specific knowledge of your host country!
Want to learn Ayurveda? Learn all about coffee cultivation? Get insider tips from Japanese manga artists? Cook Korean food?
These skills are best learned in the places they originate from – where the real experts are. With our courses abroad, you combine an unforgettable time with gaining new skills and knowledge, whether for personal or professional interest.
Some of these learning experiences are also available online!
