Consultancy for Environmental Impact Assessments and Environmental Engineering
The company, founded in 1996 and based in Jaipur, India, is a leading consultancy specializing in the preparation of environmental impact assessments (EIA) for large-scale government infrastructure and land use projects. These include mining projects, residential construction projects, industrial construction projects, as well as the construction of railway lines and highways. The measurement of solar reflectivity for solar parks is also one of the company's areas of expertise.
Typical tasks include conducting baseline studies, risk assessments, and preparing comprehensive environmental impact reports. The specialists are present on-site and carry out extensive analyses. For this purpose, they collaborate with partners such as a laboratory for the analysis of air, soil, and water quality.
In addition to environmental impact assessments, the company also plans the technical implementation of wastewater and sewage treatment plants and waste management projects.
The team consists of 12 highly qualified specialists, including a geologist, a zoologist, as well as several architects, mechanical engineers, and chemists, all of whom hold master's or doctoral degrees.
Examples of projects for which the company has conducted environmental impact assessments include the construction of road bridges in the backwaters of Kerala, the development of the Jaipur metro line on behalf of the Asian Development Bank, as well as the construction of a new bus depot in Jaipur, commissioned by the World Bank. Other projects include environmental assessments for radar stations of the Indian Air Force at two locations, as well as a study on the impact of surveillance radar of the Indian Coast Guard on sea turtle populations in Orissa and West Bengal.
The recommendations from the reports are indeed implemented. For example, the construction of a planned highway was fundamentally altered because it would have had a negative impact on an elephant conservation area.
Tasks for Interns
The company offers supervised internships for students from various fields related to environmental sciences or engineering.
Interns have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with environmental impact assessments. They can also learn about relevant legal regulations and compliance guidelines.
Interns' tasks include contributing to environmental impact assessments and assisting in the preparation of reports. Interns may also participate in field assignments to gain practical experience in environmental analysis and risk assessment, although travel costs must be covered by the interns themselves. These assignments take place throughout India.
Specializing in engineering planning within the field of environmental engineering is also possible as an internship.
