Teacher for orphans and street children
The Msamaria Centre for Street Children in Moshi has employed a teacher who teaches the 50 former street children (7 to 14 years old) who live in the centre in all subjects they need to be reintegrated into the public school system. Subjects taught are reading, writing, maths, geography, general knowledge and English. There are further local volunteer teachers who come to the centre on an irregular base teaching vocational subjects such as agriculure, computers or cooking.
The teacher, Mr. Peter Magafu needs volunteers who can assist him with his work. The problem is that there are huge differences in age and knwledge, so if there are volunteers, the group of students can be split into smaller subgroups.
Unfortunately some 14 year olds who have been living on the streets for several years only have the knowledge that typically have 6 year olds. To fill these knowledge gaps within a relatively short time is a demanding endeavour for Peter and his helpers.
Volunteers who want to support Peter should be students of educational sciences for primary school kids or similar.
Besides Msamaria Centre, it is also possible to teach at other similar centres.
