Private school in Zanzibar
This
placement is offered in a private school in Zanzibar which is part of a
SOS Children’s village. Besides the orphans living in the Children’s
village, other children can attend this school. It is a school with
school fees which offers a curriculum of higher quality than the public
school and is therefore very popular. As it belongs to the SOS
Children’s village organisation, it is very well equipped for being an
African school. The teaching materials, computers and facilities
are almost of European standard. Many parents financially support the
education of an orphan to get a place for their own child at this
school.
The school provides
education for all ranges of age, starting with the “Baby Class”, a
preschool for children aged 3 and a half years which combines playing
activity with educational elements, followed by primary school,
secondary school and high school, from which the teenagers graduate
with 18 years of age.
The school is looking
for students and graduates of educational sciences, as well as for
experiences teachers of all subject areas, which can support the local
teachers. The task will not only consist in teaching children, but also
in communicating recent methods of pedagogy to the local teachers so
that they can improve the efficiency of their work. There is a special
need for the subjects Mathematics, English, Sports and IT.
Good English skills are required for this placement.
