Morocco voluntourism hopper in Tanger

Baby nursery and kindergarten
At the Baby nursery ("La Crèche de Tanger") there are 40 children between 0 and 11 years who are waiting to be adopted. Most of the children have been living at the nursery since their birth. In most cases the reason is that they are children of unmarried mothers which is not acceptable in Moroccan society. Just a few of the children have joined La Crèche at a later moment because of social reasons.
The task for volunteers will be to give love and affection to the children; to bottle-feed and diaper the babies, to teach simple topics and to play and paint with the children.

Children's theatre
To children from poor families aged 9 years or older, the NGO “Flambeau Artistique” is offering the possibility to participate in several activities, with the main focus on theatre play. Every year, the children are publically performing a theatre play.
Activities that are being carried out include workshops such as body expression, theatre dance, theatre play and vocal expression. "Flambeau Artistique" is doing street performances, excursions and cultural and sporting encounters. A work group is producing short films.
Volunteers/interns should be able to contribute skills of theatre acting, dance, film, video or other arts.

Dragon Tanger
DRAGON TANGER uses manga comics for educational purposes. Volunteers can giving art-related workshops such as origami, drawing, manga, material recycling for use in arts, model-making etc., teaching theatre acting, give lessons in drawing, design, comic, animation, AV media production, multimedia, manga and anime culture, japanese language, and participate in the implementation of the magazine MANGASHI and the MANGAEXPO exhibition.

Language teacher, computer teacher and teacher for tailoring
Volunteers help at the centre of the "Union de l'action féminine (UAF)" in Tanger, at the Association of female textile workers, or in projects carried out at the deprived quarter "Bi Chifae".
UAF is carrying out campaigns to sensitise and motivate women
against discrimination. They are giving iteracy courses, and are educating the
women in health, women's rights, civil rights, and environmental care. UAF are legally, psychologically, medically and socially supporting victims of
violence, and are helping women to complete vocational training and to start
into self-employment. There is a computer room and a room with sewing machines where volunteer can give lessons. The children of the women are receiving classes in foreign languages (French, Spanish, English).
The association of female textile workers offers literacy and foreign language classes (French, Spanish) to their members and their
children. In average, there are around 50 women per year learning how to read
and write, and 40 men, women and children learning French and Spanish.
In the deprived quarter of Bi Chifae there is a non-profit computer and tailoring workshop where youth are being trained. Volunteers can teach related skills.

Home for deliquent youth
There are 34 boys aged 10-18 years living in the centre. aged 10 to 18 years who have become offenders and have been sent to the centre due to judicial order. Typical offenses include theft, drug dealing and drug abuse, and bodily harm making use of stabbing weapons.
Volunteers can participate in the following activities: Teaching and doing
activities with the boys, including sports (basketball, volleyball, football),
working with clay, painting, sculpturing, music or any other activity that you
consider adequate. Volunteers with experience can assist in training the
educators and accompanying summer camps.

Humanitarian help for Sub-Saharan refugees
For refugees from Sub-Saharan Africa, Morocco is the most important land of transit; from Morocco they are trying to reach Spain by boat. Experts estimate that every
year around 120,000 Africans try to reach Europe on various routes, many of whom
die on the way in the Sahara desert or in the Mediterranean sea. Only in
Morocco, some 100,000 people are being retained from the authorities every year.
Chabaka is trying to provide human living conditions to illegal Sub-Saharans in
Morocco.
Volunteers participate in the organisation and realisation of events and activities
about the topic of Sub-Saharan refugees, and in training sessions (education of educators, project
management, giving training about your specific field of expertise).
