Wedding planning, event location

In Northern Israel, Tamra is a popular location for weddings and events: the town is appealingly located in the backcountry of Akko and Haifa on beautiful rolling hills, wherefrom one can oversee the Mediterranean Sea and the coastal agricultural plains. The town also has a good reputation for its food and restaurants.

During the "wedding season", which is from middle of April to middle of October, several large weddings are being celebrated in Tamra every day. These weddings are huge events which typically take 4 days. In most cases, 1000 or more guests are being invited and the whole idea behind the wedding is to demonstrate wealth and exuberance. Every wedding is trying to be bigger and better than the ones before in terms of decoration, food, costumes and entertainment.

Generally, the first three days of the wedding take place in private houses. Due to the large amount of guests, the celebration also includes the neighbour’s houses. The fourth and final day is typically celebrated at a special location, dedicated to holding weddings. In Tamra there are several of such wedding event locations.

The latest addition to these, and apparently the biggest and “best” one, is called “Opera”, which opened in March 2010. The building of Opera looks like a castle. Being located on one of Tamra’s hills, it is overlooking the town, being an eye-catcher also at night due to its animated illumination.

The plan is to host one wedding celebration every night during the wedding season 2010, which is starting in April.

The elegant main banqueting hall can host 1200 guests. It is equipped with professional sound, lighting and event technologies. Also the kitchen makes use of highly efficient technologies, allowing it to cook for 1200 guest with just 5 persons of kitchen staff. In the basement of the main banqueting hall, there is an additional saloon that can be rented for smaller, more traditional weddings. The towers of the castle-style buildings have luxury suites for the bridal couple, all with Jacuzzis.

As an intern, you can basically choose between three areas of activity: The first one includes the development of innovative ideas and planning of the celebration, project management, implementation and arrangement of materials, decoration, staff etc. The second area focuses on catering and kitchen management, and the third area is event technologies.

Even during the months which are not wedding season, you can do your internship, assisting the owners in marketing, or helping to develop concepts for the further use of the location during low season.

This internship is perfect for students of relevant fields of study such as event management, hospitality management, event technologies, etc., as well as for everybody interested in those areas.
