b) Overview over other costs (Volunteering and Internships)

We provide you with this information so you can calculate the total costs for your stay in Tanzania. The following costs are to be paid at your destination to the respective people offering their services (e.g. landlord). All costs stated are approximated and we cannot guarantee them. We can give you the exact costs for  rent and visa as soon as we know your activity, dates, duration and location of stay. Please take into consideration that some volunteering positions and internships include accommodation, whereas others don't. Please check the info boxes below each project description.

• Travel costs from central Europe € 400-900 (You book the flight yourself and we give you some tips)

• Accommodations and meals, arranged as part of the trouble-free package; if not stated differently at the project description. All costs are approximate values.

Note: All rates given for Voluntourism, Voluntourism Hopper & World Learner include accommodation and in some cases also meals.

Mumbai: Single room in a guest house for Indian students with en-suite bathroom, approx.   250-350 €/month. You can also share the room with 2-3 Indian students of the same gender and then the price will only be 1/3 to ¼ of the price in case of single occupancy. You will have the possibility to cook and there is a community room. You can also get Indian food being cooked for you for around 40 €/month for 3 meals per day.

Jodhpur: Single room at homestay on full board approx. 200 €/month

Setrawa: Family accommodation incl. full board approx. 60 €/month, simple standard

Jaipur: Family accommodation incl. full board approx. 220 €/month

Cochin: Double room in a good tourist standard homestay (family is renting rooms in their house) in the historic old town of Fort Cochin with en-suite bathroom. In case of single occupancy around 200 €/month, double occupancy around 250 €/month for the months of May to August, around 250 € (single occupancy) and 350 € (double occupancy) for the months of September-November and February-April and around 300 € (single) and 400 € (double) for December and January, not including meals.

Himalaya: In the Chrysalid Outdoor Learning Centre, a tented camp where corporate team building activities and outdoor sports activities are being arranged for groups, accommodation in a comfortable tent in which it is possible to stand with electricity, electric light, bed, writing desk and en-suite stone-built bathroom with western toilet and hot water. The meals are of good tourist standard and include the typical Indian early morning tea (at around 2 hours before breakfast), breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea/coffe with snack, soup and dinner, and a 1 liter bottle of mineral water per day. The special rate for volunteers/interns is 15 USD per day (with a minimum stay of one month).

If you have higher demands for accommodation, you can also stay at a tourist hotel in Mumbai or Cochin. Due to our experience as a tour operator we can offer you reduced rates. Please let us know if you are interested in this offer, we can give you a quote.

The exact costs for accommodation we will confirm you once we know your time and duration of stay.

Meals (if not included with the accommodation): Meal at a restaurant approx. € 1-2 (simple), € 3-6 (good tourist restaurant). Cooking yourself (if kitchen is available) around 50 € per month.

• Travel healthcare insurance, 10-20 € per month

• Internship or volunteer visa, around 110 €.

For voluntourism, voluntourism hopper and World Learner you will need a normal tourist visa for around 65 € (up to 6 months of stay). 

• Possibly costs for vaccinations if they are not covered by your health care insurance. We can write you a confirmation that you are doing an internship which is needed for your university studies or vocational training which might help to get these costs covered by your health care insurance.
